جميع الناس قد حجوا وزاروا
ومالى قد نأى عني المزار
All people have made pilgrimage and visited
Yet the holy sites have become inaccessible to me
أعلل مهجتي عاما فعاما
وقلبي لا يقرّ له قرار
My heart has longed year after year
With no rest or peace within it
فإن تكن المعاصي أقعدتني
وأنأتني الكبائر والصغار
If my sins have made me stay behind
And major and minor wrongs have kept me away
فعفو الله أوسع من ذنوبي
ومنه يقال بالعفو العثار
Then God's forgiveness is greater than my sins
And He pardons those seeking atonement
على أنى إذا أذنبت ذنبا
فما لي فيجنايته اختيار
Even so, when I sin
I have no choice in committing it
قضاء الله ليس له مردّ
ومالى من إرادته فرار
God's decree cannot be reversed
And I cannot escape His will
وما أنا في الوجود وفضل ربى
جزيل الفيض أبحره غزار
I am nothing, while my Lord's grace
Is abundant, its sea overflowing
ورحمته لقد وسعت كثيرا
بفيض الفضل للجنات ساروا
His mercy encompasses greatly
With the grace that led many to the Gardens
على أنى كذر في غبار
وأين الذر إن سكن الغبار
While I remain lost in the dust
Where can the speck be when settled is the dust?
إلهى قد ضعفت وضاع عمرى
وليل الشعر لاح به النهار
My God, I have grown weak, my life wasted
The night of white hair has overcome the day
وجانبني الشباب وما أتاني
على شيبي متاب أو قرار
Youth has abandoned me, no respite comes
To my graying hair and unsettled state
وما قدمت من عمل ينجى
إذا ما الناس يوم الحشر حاروا
No deeds have I put forth to save me
When all shall burn on Judgment Day
سوى التوحيد معتقدى وحبي
لطه من له المنن الكبار
Except my creed of oneness and my love
For Taha, of great favors the giver
فتلك بضاعتي من عهد وضعي
وما لبضاعتي أبدا بوار
That is my merchandise since my youth
My goods will never turn to ruin
ولى بالمصطفى نسب شريف
به المجد المؤثل والفخار
I have noble lineage through Mustafa
Through him, glory and pride were born
ولكن يعتريني حين أتلو
فلا أنساب بينهم اصفرار
Yet shame comes over me when I recite
No lineage among them turns pale
فيا مولاي لا تفضح عيوبي
إذا ما الناس بالهادي استجاروا
My Master, disgrace me not
When people seek refuge in the Guide
وقدر لي بفضلك حج بيت
به طاف الملائك واستداروا
Grant me, by your grace, pilgrimage
To the House circled by angels
به تمحى عن العبد الخطايا
ويحلو فيه للعاصي اعتذار
Therein sins are erased from the servant
And the sinner finds pleas for atonement
متى أحظى به وأطوف سبعا
وأرمل ساعيا ولي اقتدار
If I am given the chance to circle seven times
And hasten between Safa and Marwa in vigor
وأستشفى بزمزم من سقامى
وتروى غلتي منها جرار
To drink from Zamzam and cure my ailments
With its pure, cool water to quench and nourish
وتلبيتي على عرفات ينسى
بحسن دويها أهل ودار
My call of Labbayk on Arafat would make me forget
The beautiful sound of its call near and far
بمختلف اللغات الكل يدعو
وثوب الإنكسار لهم شعار
All make diverse invocations in their garb
Of humility, their unifying banner
وما أحلى التزاحم إذ أفاضوا
وللجمرات في البيد أشاروا
How wonderful the crowding when they descended
And gestured at the stoning pillars with pebbles in hand
ويوم منى أجل الدهر عندى
سروراً عند ما ترمى الجمار
The day of Mina is the greatest in my eyes
When the pebbles are cast at the Jamarat
وإن طفنا وودعنا وسالت
بأعناق المطيّات القفار
If we then took leave, the mounts pacing
Through the arid valley’s passes
إلى خير البرية من قريش
فحسبى ذاك إن دنت الديار
To the Best of Creation from Quraysh
That alone would suffice, the homes nearing
هنالك تكمل الأفراح عندى
وتحلو لي الإقامة والجوار
There my joy would be complete
Pleasant my stay and company
وألثم ترب أرض حل فيها
رسول الله والنفر الكبار
I would kiss the soil where alighted
The Messenger and the nobles with him
وأرفع للسما طرفى ابتهالا
وللعبرات في الخد انحدار
I would lift my eyes to the heavens in supplication
Tears streaming down my cheeks
وأطلب من رسول الله فضلا
شفاعته وقلبى مستطار
Seeking the Prophet’s intercession and grace
My heart filled with fervent desire
هناك أحط أوزاري لديه
وتعلوني المهابة والوقار
There I would unburden myself before him
Awe and dignity enveloping me
رسول الله من ذنبي أجرني
فإن المستجير بكم يجار
O Messenger of God, save me from my sins
For one seeking refuge in you is protected
رسول الله أنت لنا شفيع
وعزك للورى جاه وجار
O Messenger of God, you are our intercessor
Your might is support and protection
وجاهك في الورى جاه عليه
مدى الدهر المعول والمدار
Your status in the world rests on pillars
The axis around which all revolves
ونور علاك قد عم البرايا
وبدرك ليس يدركه سرار
The light of your ascent filled the earth
Your brilliance has no veil or secret
يبعثته جنود الشرك ولت
وأهل الكفر قد هلكوا وباروا
It destroyed the armies of polytheism
The people of disbelief perished and were ruined
وأيدهُ الإله بخير صحب
وأنصار على الأعدا أغاروا
While God supported him with the best companions
Who raided the enemies and defended
وللإسلام قد نصروا وآووا
ومنهم تم للدين انتصار
They gave victory to Islam and sheltered it
Through them faith was given triumph
رسول الله حبك ملء قلبي
ومالي عن محبتك اصطبار
O Messenger of God, love for you fills my heart
I cannot endure separation from your love
جعلت شعار حبك خير ثوب
وحب المصطفى نعم الشعار
I have made love of you my life's creed
Loving the Chosen One is a noble banner
فحاشى أن أضام وأنت جاهى
وحاشى أن يدانيني افتقار
Never shall I be deprived having you as my pride
Never shall neediness approach me
عليك الله صلى ما تبّدت
نجوم الأفق أو طلع النهار
May God send blessings upon you eternally
As the stars adorned the horizon and dawn shone
وآل البيت والأصحاب جمعا
وأتباع ومن حجوا وزاروا
And upon your Household and Companions altogether
And your followers, pilgrims all who have visited
