يا واحداً لم يتخذ من ولد

يعضده فيما نهاه وأمر

O The One who has no child

To support Him in what He forbade and ordered

هب لي بحولٍ منك من تعذدتي

به فقد أوهن عظمي الكبر

Grant me, through Your power, one who inherits from me

Now that old age has weakened my bones

ولا تذرني رب فرداً إن ذا

معنى به استأثرت من دون البشر

And leave me not, my Lord, alone, for that

Has a meaning with which You exclusively associated among mankind

رب بآدم الذي قد آنست

وحشته بنسله البيض الغرر

My Lord, by Adam whom You relieved

His loneliness with his offspring, the shining white pearls

كن مونساً لوحشتي وراحماً

لوحدتي بخير مولودٍ أغر

Be a companion to my loneliness and have mercy

On my solitude with the best newborn boy

أجب دعائي وأنلني في الذي

شكوته يا سيدي حسن النظر

Answer my prayer and grant me a favorable response to that

Which I complain, O my Master, You of excellent consideration

رب بإبراهيم من قد رفع ال

بيت لمن حج إليه واعتمر

My Lord, by Abraham who erected

The House for those who make Ḥajj pilgrimage and ‘Umrah

شد ركن عزى بفتى يرفع ما

أسس آبائي ويحيى ما دثر

Make strong the pillar of my strength with a youth who will raise what

My fathers established and revive what has wasted away

رب بموسى من به من أمه

قد قرت العين ومنها العيش قر

My Lord, by Moses through whom his mother’s

Eyes were delighted and through him her living was delighted

أقر عيشي سيدي بولد

به تقر النفس والعين تقر

Delight my living, my Master, with a boy

Through whom the soul and eyes are delighted

بروحك الذي بروح القدس قد

أيدت أيدني بمولود ذكر

By Your Spirit whom You supported me through the Spirit of Holiness

Support me with a newborn male

وبالنبي زكريا من له

وهبت يحيى رحمة على الكبر

And by the prophet Zechariah whom You

Granted John as a mercy in old age

هب لي حناناً من لدنك خلفاً

يحيى به في الناس ذكرى والأثر

Grant me, from You, a successor who will revive

My memory and traces among people

بيوسف الذي به والده

ارتد بصيراً بعد أن كف البصر

By Joseph through whom his father

Regained sight after vision had gone

إعطف علي بغلام قبل أن

تبيض عيناي وأحسن لي النظر

Have mercy on me with a boy before

My eyes whiten and improve my sight

بالخضر اجعل روض أنسي خضراً

كيما يقال زان نوره الشجر

By al-Khidhr make the meadow of my familiarity green

So it can be said his light adorned the trees

واجعل ثمار أملي يا نعةً

ولا تذرني غصناً بلا ثمر

And make the fruits of my hopes fresh dates

And leave me not a branch without fruit

بح من كونته من نورك ال

أنور في أصلاب سادات مضر

With whom You created from Your light that

Brightens noble loins

كون به لي ولداً أغر في

صلبي بفضل ذلك النور الأغر

Create him as a bright boy in my loins

Through the grace of that shining light

بحيدر القسورة الكرار من

به شددت أزرت سيد البشر

By al-Haidar al-Qasura the repeating one

Through whom You strengthened the arm of the master of mankind

اشدد بمولود سوي به

أزرى فقد انقض ظهري الكبر

Strengthen my arm with a goodly newborn

For old age has shattered my back

وبالبتول الطهر من طهرتها

ونسلها الطاهر من كل قذر

And by the chaste virgin whom You purified

And her progeny, the pure from all filth

هب لي نسلاً طاهراً واجعله

يا رب أبر من بوالديه بر

Grant me a pure lineage and make it,

My Lord, more righteous than its parents

وبالأئمة الهداة وارثي

علم رسول اللَه خيرة الخير

And by the guiding Imams, inheritors

Of the knowledge of the Messenger of Allah, the best of the best

حزني خير وارثٍ يورثني

كنز ولاهم الذي قلبي ادخر

Make my anguish inherit the treasure and worry

Which my heart hoarded

فإني لم أتخذ كنزاً سوى

محض ولاهم ولنعم المدخر

For I have hoarded no treasure but

Pure worry and excellent savings
