عَزاء عَزاء أَيُّها الشَهم وَاِحتسب
وَأَيقن بِأَن اللَه ما شاءَ يَفعَل
Take comfort, take comfort, O gallant man, and seek God’s reward.
And be certain that God does whatever He wills.
تَجلد وَلا تَبد التَضجر وَالأَسي
فَأَنك مِمَن لِلمَعالي تؤهل
Stand firm, and let neither vexation nor sorrow show.
For you are among those fitted for lofty attainments.
وَأَنتَ بِحَمد اللَه أَول عارف
بِأَن الكَريم الحُر لا يَتَزَلزل
And you are—praise be to God—the first to know
that the noble, freeborn man never wavers.
فَيا طالَما غذاك بِالحلم وَالتُقى
أَبوك وَصَعب الأَمر بِالصَبر يَسهل
How often he nurtured you in forbearance and piety—
your father; and through patience, the hard matter grows easy.
