ذَكَرْتُكَ فَارْتَاعَ الفُؤَادُ صَبَابَةً

إِلَيْكَ وَمَالِي مِنْ إِسَارِكَ مَنْفَذُ

I remembered you, so my heart fluttered

Towards you, and I have no escape from your bondage

ذُعِرْتُ لِفُقْدَانِ الوِصَالِ بِغُرَّةٍ

وَذَلِكَ ذُعْرٌ لَيْسَ مِنْهُ تَعَوُّذُ

I was startled by the loss of union suddenly

That is a fright from which there is no talisman

ذَمَائِيَ مَسْفُوحٌ بِمِدْرَجَةِ الهَوَى

وَقَلْبِي بِنِيرَانِ الصَّبَابَةِ يُنْبَذُ

My tears flow down the staircase of passion

And my heart is thrown into the fires of fluttering

ذَوَارفُ دَمْعِي بِالدِّمَاءِ مَشُوبَةٌ

وَمَا ذَاكَ إلاَّ أَنَّ قَلْبِي مُجَذَّذُ

The overflowing of my tears mixed with blood

That is only because my heart is wounded

ذَهَلْتُ عَنِ السُّلْوَانِ وَالحُبُّ آفَةٌ

يَحَارُ بِهَا النِّحْرِيرُ وَهْوَ مُجَهْبَذُ

I became heedless of joy, and love is a calamity

In which silk is confused, and it is tousled

ذَرَانِي فَمَا عَرَّضْتُ للِحُبِّ مُهْجَتِي

وَلَكنْ سِهَامُ الحُبِّ فِي القَلْبِ نُفَّذُ

It let me be, so I did not expose myself to love

But the arrows of love penetrated my heart

ذَوَى زُهْدِيَ اللَّذَاتِ فِيكَ صَبَابَةً

كَأَنَّ انْسِكَابَ المُزْنِ مِنِّيَ يُؤْخَذُ

My abstinence from pleasures in you melted away

As if the dripping of sap from me is taken away

ذُؤَابُ الأَسَى بَيْنَ الجَوَانِحِ لاَمِعٌ

وَلَيْسَ بَقْلْبِي مِنْ عِذَارَيْهِ مُنْقِذُ

The flames of sorrow glisten between my bosoms

And my heart has no rescuer from its sparks

ذَلَلْتُ لِمَحْبُوبٍ هُوَ العِزُّ كُلُّهُ

عَلَى أَنَّنِي فِي ذِلَّتِي أتَلَذَّذُ

I surrendered to a beloved who is all glory

So that I relish my humiliation

ذِمَامُكَ مَحْفُوظٌ وَحَقُّكَ وَاجِبٌ

وَحُبُّكَ مَحْتُومٌ وَأَنْتَ المُنَفِّذُ

Your protection is kept, your right is obligatory

Your love is destined, and you are the executor
