He whom ambition led to believe

That wealth would never leave his side

    Strutted with pride and vanity,

Decked out in fine robes and gowns.

But life soon tore his clothes to rags,

And meager times replaced his wealth.

So trust not in your riches, whose nature

Is loss and fortune’s fickle wheel.

    Let gaining your sustenance suffice,

Not hoarding up for days ahead.
