1. لا خَيرَ في العَيشِ قَولَ ذي نُصُحٍ

    إِن أَنتَ لَم تَغدُ سَكراناً وَلَم تُرَحِ

    There's no life without cheerfulness, so said the man of good counsel,

    Unless you are intoxicated or delighted

  2. مِن قَهوَةٍ كَشُعاعِ الشَمسِ صافِيَةٍ

    تَنفي الهُمومَ بِأَنواعٍ مِنَ الفَرَحِ

    With coffee, pure as the sun's rays,

    Dispelling cares with joy.

  3. ما زِلتُ أَشرَبُها وَاللَيلُ مُعتَكِرٌ

    حَتّى أَكَبَّ الكَرى رَأسي عَلى قَدَحي

    I've kept drinking it while night grows dense

    Till my head drops heavily onto my cup.
