نحن ضربنا الازد بالعراق

والحيّ من ربيعة المرَّاق

We struck the Azd in Iraq

And the vigilant ones from Rabia al-Murraq

ضربا يقيم صعر الاعناق

بغير اطماع ولا ارزاق

A strike that straightens the necks

Without greed or livelihood

الا بقايا كرم الاعراق

Except for the remnants of Iraq's generosity
