يا ماعز الكُرّات قد خزيتا

لقد خُدعت ولقد هُجيتا

O goat of marbles, you have brought shame

You have been deceived and you have been insulted

كِدتَ تخصينا فقد خصيبا

وكنت ذا حظ فقد محيتا

You almost deprived us, for you have been castrated

You used to be lucky, but now you are erased

ويحك لم تعلم بمن صليتا

ولا بأي حجر رميتا

Woe to you, you did not know with whom you have prayed

Nor against which rock you have cast

اذا رأيت المزيد الهبوتا

يركب شدقا شدقما هريتا

If you see more absurdities

Riding cheek to cheek, you flee

طِر بجناحيك فقد أتيتا

حران حران فهيتا هيتا

Fly with your wings, for you have come

To Harrān, Harrān, so flee, flee

والموصل الموصل أو تكريتا

حيث تبيع النبطُ البيوتا

And to Mosul, Mosul or Tikrit
