لما نزلنا منزلاً ممقوتا

نريد أن نرحل أو نبيتا

When we stopped at a despised abode,

We wanted to leave or spend the night.

جئتَ ولم ندر من أين جيتا

اذا سقيت المزيد السحتيتا

You came and we did not know from where you came,

If I gave you more to drink, you would become intoxicated.

قلتَ ألا زدني وقد رويتا

You said, no give me more, for I am quenched.
