عِديني بِقُربٍ وَانعمي بِوصالِ

وَجُودي عَلى بُعدٍ بِطَيفِ خَيالِ

Bring me close with nearness and gift me with union

While my being from afar is but an illusion

فَإِني عَلى ما تَعهدين مِن الوَفا

وَلَستُ وَإِن طالَ الصُدود بِسالي

For I am true to the vows you made to me

I'll not change, though the estrangement be long

وَكَيفَ إِلى السُلوان أَصبو وَدُونه

دَمي وَهوَ في غَير الصَبابة غالي

How can I yearn for comfort while you are not there

My blood, while not in your veins, is so dear

وَلي قَلبُ عانٍ في الغَرام تطوّعا

لِجَمر الغَضى بَينَ الأَحبة صالي

I've a willing heart enamored with love

Stoking embers of passion midst lovers so dear

خديوي مَصر قادمٌ لِمَعالي

My lord of Egypt comes for glorious deeds
