نَحِّ عَنكَ الطَّبِيبَ وَاسمَع لِنَعتِي

إنَّني ناصِحٌ مِنَ النُّصَّاحِ

Turn away the doctor and listen to my advice

For I am a sincere counselor

ذو تَجَارِيبَ قَد تَقَلَّبتُ في الصِّح

حَةِ دَهراً وفي السَقَامِ المتاحِ

With much experience, I have long traversed health

And sickness accessible to all

غادِ هذا الكَبابَ كُلَّ صَبَاحٍ

مِن مُتُونِ الفَتِيَّةِ السُّحَّاحِ

Drink this early morning cup

From the texts of exuberant youth

فإذا ما عَطِشتَ فاشرَب ثَلاثاً

مِن عَتِيقٍ في الشَّمِّ كالتُّفَّاحِ

When thirsty, drink thrice

Aged wine, fragrant as apples

ثُمَّ عِندَ المَسَاءِ فَاعكف على ذا

وعَلَى ذا بِأَعظَمِ الأقدَاحِ

Then in the evening, devote yourself

To this and that, with cups most grand

فَتُقَوِّي ذا الضَّعفَ مِنكَ وتُلفَى

عَن لَيالٍ أصَحَّ هذِي الصِّحَاحِ

Thus strengthening your weakness

And healed of nights most true to health

ذا شِفَاءٌ وَدَع مَقَالَةَ هذا

نَاكَ ذا أُمَّهُ بِأَيرِ رَبَاحِ

This is a cure, ignore the talk

Of one whose mother bore a lost one
