Two eyes: one appears delighted,
rejoicing in her imam, while the other sheds tears.
She weeps and laughs at once; she is grieved
by what she beholds and gladdened by what she knows.
The caliph's death while in sacred consecration grieves her,
and she rejoices that this more compassionate one has arisen.
Never have I seen or heard of anything like what I now see:
verse that I comb and dress, and other verse that I pluck.
The caliph has perished—alas for the nation of Ahmad!—
but after him there has come to you one who shall succeed him.
God bestowed upon this man the grace of the caliphate,
and for that man the Gardens of Bliss are being adorned.
So weep for the fall of your best man and guardian,
and look eagerly to this man's reign, and take pride.
