Cast down between ardor and abandonment,
Between youthfulness and abandonment I am laid down,
a heart lies wounded by the keen point of love’s spear.
A heart wounded by the sharp teeth of love.
You would think it dead—yet it is a mere wraith;
You'd think it dead, though it is but a specter,
the spirit now turns it about by means of the lifeblood.
Its spirit tossed about in anguish.
If the wind should blow from the direction of your dwelling
If the wind were to blow from your abode one day,
one day, bearing him reunion, that wind would carry him away.
Bearing a reunion, the wind would carry it away.
