فَتَى لا يُبالي المُدلِجونَ بِنورِه
إِلَى ما بِهِ ألا تضيءَ الكَواكِبُ
A young man by whose light night travelers care not
whether the stars shine or do not.
لَهُ حاجِبٌ عَن كُلِّ أَمرٍ يَشينُهُ
وَلَيسَ لَهُ عَن طالِبِ العُرفِ حاجِبُ
He has a guard against everything that might disgrace him,
but no guard against one who comes seeking generosity.
