So they have come to shun me, just as
They have grown weary of me as the high-banked pools
the noble, high-headed she-camels refuse al-Amiddān’s pools.
Weary of the constant descent of the violent rains.
And now they offer me no refreshing draught of affection,
And they have ceased to give me to drink of kindliness
even if the broad watercourses flowed for them.
Even a palmful, though to them belong the bursting clouds.
