لو برجلي ما برأسي

لم أبت إلا بنجد

Had I feet instead of a head

I would still head to Najd

خفة ليست لغيري

لا أراني الله فقدي

A lightness no other possesses

May Allah not make me lose it

ومحال أن يرى مث

لي أو يبصر بعدي

And impossible that He sees

Another like me or after me

رجل لا يضرط الضر

طة إلا بعد جهد

A man who can't handle rough terrain

Except with great effort

فلذا الأمر تراه

يأكل التمر بزبد

Thus you see this matter

Eats dates with no discomfort

غير أني قيل عني

إنني مغرى بدعد

Yet it's said about me

That I'm inclined to mischief

وبليلي وبسلمي

وبسعدي وبهند

By my nights and my peace

My luck and India

ثم لا أملك شيئاً

غير سنور وخلد

Then I own nothing

But a lynx and eternity

وحماقات وعمري

إن لي رأساً مرندي

And foolishness and my life

For I have a supple head

أصبر الأرؤس في صف

ع بلا حرز وعد

The most patient of heads in a row

With no amulet or appointment

خلقت كفاه من جو

د لراجيه ورد

Created with palms of generosity

For those who hope for flowers

مورد يوردراجي

ه إلى أعذب ورد

A spring that brings hoping men

To the sweetest flowers

لا خلا من منة من

ه إلى الأحرار يسدي

Not devoid of favor from Him

To the free He gives

فهو القائم بالح

ق وموفي كل عهد

For He is steadfast in truth

And fulfiller of every promise
