The abode of the tents, for I am inclined
Towards the people of tents
My heart craves
The swift arrows of fate
They have made me sick and languish
That I may heal my sickness
The days of union made unlawful
While separation not unlawful
May God not torment my heart
Except with excessive passion
As if that life
Were but a dream
Of the expected one
Naught remains for fate's events
Except the son of Ahmed, tall of stature and mighty hands
Sufficient is he, most generous
Than rainclouds' downpour
He meets the destitute with his face
Elated with joy
Revered is he whom we expect
For the greatest calamities
He casts troubles with wisdom
Sharper than an Indian sword
He has firm resolutions
Keener than a sword's edge
