1. في أَيِّ سَلحٍ تَرتَطِم

    وَبِأَيِّ كَفٍّ تَلتَقِم

    With what weapon do you collide

    And with what palm do you devour

  2. أَدخَلتَ رَأسَكَ في الرَحِم

    وَعَلِمتَ أَنَّكَ تَنهَزِم

    You have put your head in the womb

    And you knew you would be defeated

  3. يا بُحتُرِيُّ حَذارِ وَي

    حَكَ مِن قُضاقِضَةٍ ضُغُم

    O Buhutiri beware

    Of the gabble of anger

  4. فَلَقَد أَسَلتَ بِوادِيَي

    كَ مِن الهِجا سَيلَ العَرِم

    For you have unleashed in my valley

    A flood of insults like raging torrents

  5. فَبِأَيِّ عِرضٍ تَعتَصِم

    وَبِهَتكِهِ جَفَّ القَلَم

    With what honor will you defend yourself

    When the pen has dried from the disgrace

  6. وَاللَهِ حِلفَةَ صادِقٍ

    وَبِقَبرِ أَحمَدَ وَالحَرَم

    By Allah the oath of the truthful

    By the grave of Ahmad and the sanctuary

  7. وَبِحَقِّ جَعفَرٍ الإِما

    مِ اِبنِ الإِمامِ المُعتَصِم

    And by the right of Ja'far the Imam

    The son of Imam Al-Mu'tasim

  8. لأصَيِّرَنَّكَ شُهرَةً

    بَينَ المَسيلِ إِلى العَلَم

    I will make you famous

    From Al-Musayliq to Al-‘Alam

  9. حَيِّ الطُلولَ بِذي سَلَم

    حَيثُ الأَراكَةُ وَالخِيَم

    At Dhi Salam, home of the Arab tents

    Where are the meadows and the tents

  10. يا اِبنَ الثَقيلَةِ وَالثَقي

    لِ عَلى قُلوبِ ذَوي النِعَم

    O son of the heavyweight and the trusted

    Upon the hearts of the prosperous

  11. وَعَلى الصَغيرِ مَعَ الكَبي

    رِ مِنَ المَوالي وَالحَشَم

    And upon the little and the big

    Among the loyal and the modest

  12. في أَيِّ سَلحٍ تَرتَطِم

    وَبِأَيِّ كَفٍّ تَلتَقِم

    With what weapon do you collide

    And with what palm do you devour

  13. يا ابنَ المُباحَةِ لِلوَرى

    أَمِنَ العَفافِ أَمِ التُهَم

    O son of the one who makes lawful for people

    Is it chastity or accusation

  14. إِذ رَحلُ أُختِكَ لِلعَجَم

    وَفِراشُ أُمِّكَ في الظُلَم

    When your sister traveled to the non-Arabs

    And your mother's bed is in the dark

  15. وَبِبابِ دارِكَ حانَةٌ

    في بَيتِهِ يؤتى الحَكَم

    By the door of your house is a tavern

    In his home he is given rule
