لَكِنَّني أَسأَلُ الرَحمَنَ مَغفِرَةً
وَضَربَةً ذاتَ فَرغٍ تَقذِفُ الزَبَدا
But I ask the Merciful for forgiveness
And a strike of perfect force that casts forth the foam,
أَو طَعنَةً بِيَدَي حَرّانَ مُجهِزَةً
بِحَربَةٍ تُنفِذُ الأَحشاءَ وَالكَبِدا
Or a stab by hands burning, made ready
With a blade to pierce the guts and liver,
حَتّى يُقالَ إِذا مَرّوا عَلى جَدَثي
أَرشَدَهُ اللَهُ مِن غازٍ وَقَد رَشَدا
Until it’s said when they pass my grave:
“God guided him from one who went raiding and gave guidance.”
