1. كانَت قُرَيشٌ بَيضَةٍ فَتَفَلَّقَت

    فالمُحُّ خالِصُهُ لِعَبدِ مَنافِ

    Quraysh was an egg that cracked open

    The pure part is for the slave of Manaf

  2. الخَالِطينَ فَقيرَهُم بِغَنِيِّهُم

    وَالظاعِنينَ لِرِحلَةِ الأَصيافِ

    The mixers, their poor with their rich

    And the summer travelers

  3. وَالرائِشينَ وَلَيسَ يوجَدُ رائِشٌ

    وَالقائِلينَ هَلُمَّ لِلأَضيافِ

    And the bedouins, though no bedouin is found

    And those who say, "Come here guests!"

  4. عَمرو الَّذي هَشَمَ الثَريدَ لِقَومِهِ

    وَرِجالُ مَكَّةَ مِسنِتونَ عِجافُ

    Amr who broke the bread for his people

    And the men of Mecca, dried-lipped

  5. عَمرو العُلى هشَمَ الثَريدَ لِقَومِهِ

    وَرِجالُ مَكَّةَ مِسنِتونَ عِجافُ

    Amr the Lofty broke the bread for his people

    And the men of Mecca, dried-lipped

  6. وَهُوَ الَّذي سَنَّ الرَحيلَ لِقَومِهِ

    رحلَ الشِتاءِ وَرِحلَةَ الأَصيافِ

    And he who established the departure for his people
