  1. أَلهبتْ لوعَةَ القلوبِ الخليلُ

    فهي نارٌ من المآقِي تَسيلُ

    The passion of hearts was ignited by the Friend

    It is a fire pouring from tribulations

  2. يومُ باروخَ والسّجاجيدُ غرقى

    في دمِ السّاجدينَ يومٌ مَهُولُ

    The day of Baruch when prayer mats drowned

    In the blood of prostrators, a fateful day

  3. عُجْ على مسجدٍ حناياهُ تَدْمَى

    وأصِخْ للوجودِ ماذا يقولُ

    Come to a mosque whose cheeks are bloody

    And ask existence, what does it say?

  4. في جبالِ الخليلِ للنّورِ بَحْرٌ

    فيهِ تَشْفى الأرواحُ وهو عليلُ

    In Al Khalil's mountains for the light is an ocean

    In it souls heal though it is sick

  5. أمْرَضَتْهُ أفعى من الصّمِّ صِلّ

    ثمّ ألفٌ من الرؤوسِ ذيولُ

    Bitten by a viper made of deafness

    Then thousands of heads with tails

  6. سَحَرتْ كلّ ساحرٍ في البرايا

    البغيّ التي اسمُها راشيلُ

    It has hexed every sorcerer in the deserts

    The unjust one named Rachel

  7. لَبِسَتْ جِلْدَ دَيَنَصُورٍ وشَبّتْ

    فعلى نفسِها الحُواةُ تَبولُ

    Wearing the skin of a dinosaur it grew up

    So it urinates on itself out of terror

  8. آهِ يا مسجدَ الخليلِ ومن حُمْ

    ر النّوافيرِ فيكَ تَجري سُيولُ

    Oh mosque of Al Khalil, from whose fountains

    Torrents flow in valleys

  9. شَقّ جنكيزُ في لُحومِ المصلِي

    نَ طريقاً لكيْ يَمُرّ المغولُ

    Genghis ripped through the meat of worshipers

    To make way so the Mongols can pass

  10. صُوّمٌ قُوّمٌ ضُيوفُ مليكٍ

    بيتُه للمسافرِينَ سبيلُ

    Fasting, standing, guests of the King

    His home to travelers is a path

  11. ما تَهَنّوْا برشفةٍ مِنْ رَحيقٍ

    كلّ مالِ الوجودِ فيها قليلُ

    They never tasted a sip of wine

    As all the existence in it is little

  12. إذ تَِفّ الأرواحُ فجراً وكالأم

    واجِ في الرِّيحِ يَهْدِرُ التنزيلُ

    When the souls soar in the dawn like mothers

    In the wind the Revelation murmurs

  13. جنّةٌ حُوِّلتْ بنيرونَ ناراً

    وحياةٌ فيها المنايا تجولُ

    A heaven turned by Nero into fire

    And a life in it deaths roam

  14. أطلقتْها صُهيونُ مجزرةً حَمْ

    راء يَعْلُو صُراخُها والعويلُ

    It was released by Zion a slaughterhouse

    Its screaming rises and the wailing

  15. تَعْصِفُ الرِّيحُ والقلوبُ طيورٌ

    نحو أوطانِها دعاها الرّحيلُ

    The wind rages and hearts are birds

    To their homelands called by the travel

  16. تركبُ البِيدَ كلّما جَنّ ليلٌ

    ولها من بناتِ نعشٍ دليلُ

    Riding the stretchers whenever a night falls

    And it has from the daughters of the bier a guide

  17. ثمّ بينَ الزيتونِ تهوي تِباعاً

    والأحبّاءُ في الترابِ نزولُ

    Then between olive trees they fall one after another

    And the loved ones in the soil descend

  18. فهي بينَ القبورِ تمشِي الهُوَيْنَى

    ولها كالمطوّقاتِ هَدِيلُ

    So it walks among the graves swaying

    And it has like the shackled a rattling

  19. دَرَّ دُرُّ الخليل لو وزنوها

    بالجبالِ الشّمِّ الرواسي تَميلُ

    The pearls of Al Khalil, if weighed

    By the mountains of Syria, tilt

  20. تطرحُ النومَ خَلْفَها وبَريقُ ال

    فجرِ لمّا تنشقّ عنه السّدولُ

    It throws sleep behind it and the light of dawn

    When the veils on it split, exquisite

  21. عندما تصْدَح المآذن يَسْري

    في شرايينها الحُداءُ الجميلُ

    When the minarets echo, dignity spreads

    In its veins the beautiful calling

  22. وبِالرَوْحِ الجِنان يَنْسابُ فيها

    مِنْ بَساتينها النسيمُ العليلُ

    And with the soul heavens pour in it

    From its gardens the frail breeze

  23. تشْحَذُ السيف في انتظار صلاح

    ولخيلِ الفتوحِ فيها صهيلِ

    It sharpens the sword waiting for Salah ad-Din

    And for the horses of conquest in it is a neigh

  24. أنّ بينَ البحرينِ أرضاً حراماً

    وطيوراً أحجارُها سِجّيلُ

    That between two seas is a sacred land

    And its birds are solid rock

  25. في قِسِيِّ الأقدارِ منّا سِهامٌ

    من تُسَدّدْ إليهِ فهو قتيلُ

    In the cruelty of fate arrows for us

    Whoever it aims at is killed

  26. ولِسرْبِ النّسورِ فوق الثريّا

    شَرَفٌ باذخٌ ومجْدٌ أثيِلُ

    And for the eagle’s flock above the earth

    A prominent honor and lasting glory

  27. من طِراز الفتى عمادِ بن عقلٍ

    الردّى تَحْتَهُ جوادٌ أصيلُ

    The mold of the young man Imád ad-Dín

    Under him a thoroughbred horse

  28. طار ليلاً فَحَطّ نَسْرُ ابْنِ عَيّا

    شٍ فطارتْ من اليهودِ العقولُ

    He flew at night so the eagle of Ibn ‘Ayāsh landed

    And the Jews’ sanity took off

  29. في سويداءِ قَلْبِها أنْزَلَتْهُمْ

    أمّةٌ أَطبقتْ عليها المُحولُ

    In its black heart it made them descend

    A nation which shadows engulfed

  30. كبّرتْ والسّماءُ تهطلُ في القُدْ

    سِ وقالتْ الآنَ يَشْفى الغليلُ

    It exalted and the sky rains in Al-Quds

    And said now the thirst is quenched

  31. ولنُمروذنا الغَشومِ ادّرَعْنا

    حَسْبُنا الله وهو نِعمَ الوكيلُ

    And for our tyrant, we armored ourselves

    God is enough for us and He is the best Guardian

  32. كم مَصَصَتَ الدِّماءَ كالعَلَقِ الأسْ

    ودِ جسمُ العملاقِ منه هزيلُ

    How it sucked blood like the black spider

    And its ogre body became frail from it

  33. وهتكْتَ الأعراضَ كلباً عقوراً

    غابَ عنه التحريمُ والتحليلُ

    And you violated honors like an ungrateful dog

    Lost from it the forbidden and the permissible

  34. وعجنتَ الترابَ بالناسِ عجناً

    وضحايا قانا شهودٌ عُدولُ

    And you kneaded people into the soil

    And Qana’s martyrs are truthful witnesses

  35. أصبحَ ابْنُ المِرِّيخِ مِنْ أهلِ يافا

    وابْنُ يافا هو الغريبُ الدّخيلُ

    The son of Mars has become from Haifa’s people

    And Haifa’s son is the strange immigrant

  36. وجعلتَ الأذنابَ فينا رؤوساً

    فعلى رأسِ كلِّ حُرٍّ عميلُ

    And you made the tails amongst us heads

    So on top of every freeman is a collaborator

  37. أوَ هذا هو السّلامُ المرجّى

    أيّ شيءٍ إذنْ هو المستحيلُ

    Or is this the wished peace

    What then is impossible

  38. سوفَ يهوي بكَ الجنونُ قريباً

    في رحًي وَطْؤُها عليكَ ثقيلُ

    Madness will crash upon you soon

    And its painful fall on you is heavy

  39. في فلسطينَ يا فتى كلّ شِبْرٍ

    بدماءٍ زكيةٍ مجبولُ

    In Palestine o youth every inch

    With pure blood is irrigated

  40. ولزيتونِها المباركِ في الأع

    ماقِ عِرْقٌ بزمزمٍ موصولُ

    And for its blessed olives in the depths

    A vein to Zamzam is connected

  41. ما إخالُ الحدودَ إلا سيوفاً

    كلّها مِنْ قِرابِهِ مسلولُ

    Not violating borders but by swords

    All drawn from his proximity

  42. هلْ جبالُ الشامِ إلا ليوثٌ

    رابضاتٌ بها تَحُفّ الشّبولُ

    Are the mountains of Syria but lions

    Crouching over which cubs play

  43. هل رأيتَ الجليلَ كمْ أنتَ خَلا

    ب وكمْ أنتَ شامخٌ يا جليلُ

    Have you seen Galilee so many wonders

    And so proudly towering, O Galilee

  44. يا خليلي سَقْياً لحيفا ويافا

    ولمرجِ ابن عامرٍ يا خليلُ

    O my friend, water Haifa and Jaffa

    And Marj Ibn Amer, O my friend

  45. يَنْثُرْ الدّرّ حيث شاءَ مَليكٌ

    عَزّ في مُلكِهِ الذي لا يزولُ

    The King showers pearls wherever He wished

    Mighty in His Kingdom which never perishes

  46. وأنا ابنٌ لغزةٍ كم غَذَانِي

    ونَمَاني لِبانُها المعسولُ

    And I am Gaza’s son, how it fed me

    And lulled me its sweet honey

  47. رَمْلُها يُنْبِتُ البطولةَ إنْ يَسْ

    قُطْ رعيلٌ في الساحِ يَبْرُزْ رَعيلُ

    Its sand grows heroism if an elder

    In the plain falls, an elder rises

  48. نحنُ رحّالةٌ قَصَدْنا مَليكاً

    عَرْشُه فوقَ مُلْكِهِ محمولُ

    We are travelers who sought a King

    His throne above His kingdom carried

  49. اشترانا مِنّا فقلْنا رَبِحْنا

    لا نُقيلُ المولى ولا نستقيلُ

    He bought from us so we said we profited

    We do not dismiss the King and are not dismissed

  50. وبهِ لا بِنا نقارعُ جِنّاً

    بَعْدَ إنسٍ لنا عليهمْ ذُحولُ

    And through Him not us we battle jinn

    After humans to us they are but calves

  51. نحن غُرّ محجلونَ غُزاةٌ

    خَلْفَ غَازٍ لَهُ الجِهادُ سبيلُ

    We are angry undefeated raiders

    Behind a warrior for whom jihad is a path

  52. في ظِلالِ السيوفِ عَدْنٌ ورزقي

    ها هُنا تحت ظِلِّ رُمْحي يَقيلُ

    In the shadows of swords is bliss and my livelihood

    The tyrant came riding an elephant

  53. جاء نُمروذُ راكباً فوق فِيل

    ليسَ تحميكَ يا جبانُ الفُيولُ

    To not protect you, O coward bugs

    Indeed glory turns your elephant into

  54. إنّ عزّاً يُحيلُ فِيلَكَ كَوْماً

    من رمادٍ فعزّ عِزْرائيلُ

    A pile of ashes, so mighty is Almighty God

    And if skulls wage war

  55. وإذا شَنّتِ الجماجمُ حرباً

    فبماذا يُخَوّفُ المقتولُ

    Then with what are the dead intimidated?

    And what your Lord decreed for you

  56. والذي خَطّهُ لكمْ ربّ موسى

    في الكتابينِ ما له تبديلُ

    In the two Books has no alteration
