الجهلُ ليلٌ ليس فيه نورُ

والعلمُ جرٌ نورُهُ مشهورُ

Ignorance is a night with no light

While knowledge is a blazing torch

يا ابن الخلائف كم تسترَ قاعدٌ

عني ويصدئ سمعك المكسورُ

O son of caliphs, how long will you sit

Deaf to me as my broken words rust

وقد استبنت فساد ذاك وفي دعا

مولاك من إصلاحه تيسيرُ

The corruption of that has become clear

And in supplicating your Master is facilitation

وأمور مُلككَ كلها موزونةٌ

قد حاطها الإحكام والتجبيرُ

And all the affairs of your kingdom

Have been surrounded by precision and fortification

فأصخ لأصلٍ إن هززت فروعَهُ

يسقط عليك اللؤلؤ المنثورُ

So tend to the root, if you shake its branches

The scattered pearls will fall upon you
