لقدindeed برأمhas won the affection of البوthe straw-stuffed calfskin الصحورthe reluctant she-camel وقدand yet ترىshe sees
لقد برأم البو الصحور وقد ترى
اذاwhen نظرتshe looks فيat شخصهits form ماsomething that يريبهاmakes her suspicious
اذا نظرت في شخصه ما يريبها
Indeed, the stuffed calf has won over the reluctant she-camel, though she sees,
when she looks at its form, something that makes her suspicious.
وقدand sometimes يشربdrinks الماءthe water العيوفthe fastidious drinker علىdespite القذىthe floating specks
وقد يشرب الماء العيوف على القذى
وفيand in الصدرthe breast منهfor it غلةa burning thirst ماnot تصيبهاquench it
وفي الصدر منه غلة ما تصيبها
Even the fastidious may drink water despite the floating specks,
while a burning thirst for it remains in the breast, unquenched.
