تعزّيتُ عَن حبّ الضبابي حقبةً
وَكلّand all عماياblind follies جاهلٍof a fool ستثوبُwill return
وَكلّ عمايا جاهلٍ ستثوبُ
For a time, I put aside my love for al-Dibabi;
I consoled myself for loving the misty one for an era
Yet all a fool’s blind follies will return.
And ignored every blindness of an ignorant one that will evaporate

My soul’s beloved says, “You are suspect.”
The soul's friend says you are doubtful
“Both of us, by my life—you have spoken truly—are suspect.”
By my life, you spoke truthfully, O doubtful one
