هَل القلبُ إن لاقى الضبابيّ خالياً
لَدىby الركنِthe Corner أَوor عندَat الصفاal-Safa متحرّجُfeeling scruples
لَدى الركنِ أَو عندَ الصفا متحرّجُ
Would the heart, if it met al-Dibabi alone,
by the Corner or at al-Safa, feel any scruple?
وَأَعجلناand hurried us قربُthe nearness الفراقof parting وبينناand between us
وَأَعجلنا قربُ الفراق وبيننا
حَديثٌtalk كَتنشيجlike the sobbing المريضينof the two sick people مزعجُdistressing
حَديثٌ كَتنشيج المريضين مزعجُ
And the nearness of parting hurried us, while between us
was distressing talk, like the sobbing of two sick people—
حَديثٌtalk لوif اِنّthat اللّحمthe meat يشوىwere roasted بحرّهِin its heat
حَديثٌ لو اِنّ اللّحم يشوى بحرّهِ
طَريّاًfresh and raw أَتىwould reach أَصحابهits owners وهوwhile it was منضجُfully cooked
طَريّاً أَتى أَصحابه وهو منضجُ
talk in whose heat, were meat roasted,
fresh and raw, it would reach its owners fully cooked.
