أضرّ بِها التَهجيرُ حَتّى كَأَنَّها
بَقاياremnants سُلالُconsumption; wasting sickness لَمdid not يَدعهاspare her سُلالَهاher wasting sickness
بَقايا سُلالُ لَم يَدعها سُلالَها
Travel in the midday heat so ravaged her that she seemed
Exile has so afflicted her that she seems
Remnants left by consumption, her wasting sickness not having spared her.
Like the remnants of a family whose kinsman did not spare them
