الامَI am blamed عَلىfor ليلىLayla وَلَوand if اِستَطيعُهاI could reach her
الامَ عَلى ليلى وَلَو اِستَطيعُها
وَحُرمَةby the sanctity of ماwhat بَينَbetween البَنِيَّةthe Kaaba وَالسِترand the veil
وَحُرمَة ما بَينَ البَنِيَّة وَالسِتر
I am blamed for Layla; and if I could reach her—
by the sanctity of what lies between the Kaaba and its veil—
لَملتI would surely lean عَلىtoward لَيلىLayla بِنَفسيwith my whole self ميلَةًa single leaning
لَملت عَلى لَيلى بِنَفسي ميلَةً
وَلَوeven if كانَit were فيon يَومِthe day of التِحالقِhead-shaving وَالنَحرِand sacrifice
وَلَو كانَ في يَومِ التِحالقِ وَالنَحرِ
I would lean toward Layla with my whole being,
even on the day of head-shaving and sacrifice.
