By my life, across the distance—what a glance!
By my life, a glance is lost upon the demise
While we were on the heights of Hā’il and then al-Jarā’im.
While we are separated by the highest obstacle and transgressions

I looked, with a lava field from Shamāmān between me and them,
I glanced, below me a bustling army
[Unclear epithet], like the broad backs of Hā’il and al-Jarā’im,
Approaching like swarms climbing the obstacle and transgressions

بِوَدّان ذو شَجو حَديث وَقادِم
So that my gaze might reach the people of Waddān—indeed, I
So my eyes may find family and loved ones
Bear sorrow for Waddān, both new and old.
I have loved ones with new longing who have arrived

In Najd you seek the Ghawr lowlands with your gaze—can you see
Does Najd yearn for the valley with glances?
The Ghawr with it, however you bring things into alignment?
There the valley has found one with whom to harmonize
