عَفاbecame effaced الجَرفAl-Jurf مِمَّنof those who حَلَّهُdwelt in it فَأَجاولهand its surrounding tracts
عَفا الجَرف مِمَّن حَلَّهُ فَأَجاوله
فَذوand Dhū (place of) الاثلthe tamarisks منin وَدّانWaddān وَحشٌdesolate منازِلهits dwellings
فَذو الاثل من وَدّان وَحشٌ منازِله
Al-Jurf lies effaced, deserted by those who dwelt there, and so do its surrounding tracts.
The cliff forgave those who descended it, so I descended
And Dhū al-Athl in Waddān—its dwellings lie desolate.
Yet the one with a family is from the valleys, while the lone one's dwellings are the wilderness
