ألا حيّ قَبلَ البين أم حَبيب

Ah, greet Umm Habib before parting,

Oh the living before the separation, or the beloved!

Even if she will not be near us tomorrow.

And if tomorrow you will not be close to us,

لَئِن لَم تَكُن حُبّيك حبا صدقته

لَئِن لَم تَكُن حُبّيك حبا صدقته

فَما احد عِندي اِذن بِحَبيب

فَما احد عِندي اِذن بِحَبيب

If my love for you is not a love I have been true to,

If your love for me was not true love indeed,

Then no one is dear to me.

Then no one with me has the ear of a lover.

تهام اصابَت قَلبَه مَلَلِّيه

غَريب الهَوى يا وَيح كل غَريب

A man of Tihamah, whose heart a woman of Malal has smitten—

Afflictions have touched his heart,
