إِذا أَول الوَسمي جادَت أَوائِلُه
A Yemeni woman—the farthest land she inhabits,
Yemen, the furthest land that is adorned
When the first autumn rain’s earliest showers pour abundantly,
When the first rains of Al-Wasmi start pouring down
جَنوبُsouth of الشَرىal-Sharā منof صائِفa summer dwelling أوor محلهاher dwelling
جَنوبُ الشَرى من صائِف أو محلها
جُنوبsouth of الجُبيلal-Jubayl رهوهits level ground فسوائِلهand its watercourses
جُنوب الجُبيل رهوه فسوائِله
Is south of al-Sharā in summer; or her dwelling lies
The south wind blows from Saif or where it's centered
South of al-Jubayl, on its level ground and by its watercourses.
