أتصبِرcan you endure عَنapart from سعدىSa‘da وَأَنتَand you are صَبورpatient
أتصبِر عَن سعدى وَأَنتَ صَبور
وَأَنتَand you are بِحُسنof fine الصَبرِpatience مِنكَfrom you جَديرworthy
وَأَنتَ بِحُسن الصَبرِ مِنكَ جَدير
Can you endure being apart from Sa‘da, patient as you are?
Shall I be patient for Sa'di when you are patient,
And fine patience is fitting for one such as you.
And you are worthy of good patience from yourself?
وَكِدتand I almost وَلَمand not اخلِقI was created منamong الطَيرِthe birds انwhen بَداappeared
وَكِدت وَلَم اخلِق من الطَيرِ ان بَدا
سَناgleam بارِقlightning نَحوtoward الحِجازِthe Hijaz أَطيرI fly
سَنا بارِق نَحو الحِجازِ أَطير
And I almost—though I was not created a bird—when there appeared
I almost was created a bird when there appeared
A lightning gleam toward the Hijaz, took flight.
A lightning bolt flying toward Hijaz, I would fly.
