I say, as my night grows longer:

Has the night, now they are gone, no day?

My eye has refused to close, until

Its lids seem too short to cover it.

As though his heart were a fragment, leaping,

In dread of parting—if dread could be of any use.

Whispering frightens him when he sees it,

For fear that the whispers may be about him.
