فَتىً كانَ لِلرُمحِ الأَسَنِّ مُحَطِّما
ظِعاناthrusting (apparently intended as طِعانا; ظِعانا is unclear) وَلِلسَيفِand for the sword القَصيرِthe short مَطيلاlengthening
ظِعانا وَلِلسَيفِ القَصيرِ مَطيلا
A youth who would shatter the long spear,
A champion who broke the keenest spears,
with thrusts, and lengthen the short sword.
Thirsty for blood, wielder of a short sword.
