ياO عامِʿĀmir (shortened vocative) لَوif قَدَرَتhad power عَلَيكَover you رِماحُناour spears

O ʿĀmir, had our spears been able to reach you—
by the camels swaying toward Mina at al-Ghabghab—
لَلَمِستَyou would surely have felt بِالرَصعاءِat al-Raṣʿāʾ طَعنَةَa spear-thrust فاتِكٍof a ruthless man
حَرّانَburning with thirst أَوor لَثَوَيتَyou would surely have lain dead غَيرَnot مُحَسَّبِhonored
you would have felt at al-Raṣʿāʾ the thrust of a ruthless man,
burning with thirst, or you would have lain dead, unhonored.
