حمدت سجاياه المطلة بالبشر

روى المسك عن إسنادها خبر النشر

I praised his virtues, shining forth with good cheer.

Musk recounted, on their authority, the tale of fragrance.

ضحوك إذا استمطرته فهو بارق

يجود بما يغنى ويندى بما يزرى

Ever smiling: when you seek rain from him, he flashes with lightning.

He gives what enriches and bestows what puts others to shame.

إليه انتمى كل المكارم والعلا

ويكفيه ما يعزى إليه من الفخر

All noble virtues and eminence trace their lineage to him.

And the glory ascribed to him is enough for him.

ربيع إذا ما زرته زرت روضة

يفتح فيها بشره حدق الزهر

He is springtime: when you visit him, you visit a garden,

Where his cheerfulness opens the eyes of flowers.

إذا ما تبدى في جمال جلاله

رأيت انبلاج البدر في ليلة القدر

When he appears in the beauty of his majesty,

You see the full moon shining forth on the Night of Decree.

يحدث عنه فضله وهو صامت

فيجرى كما تجرى العيون من الصخر

His bounty tells of him while he is silent,

And flows as springs flow from rock.

سجاياه تندى من سحاب سخائه

وساحته أمن من الخوف والفقر

His virtues are wet with dew from the clouds of his generosity,

And his courtyard is a refuge from fear and poverty.

تميس به الأيام في حلل الصبا

وترفل منه في مطارفها الخضر

Through him, the days sway in the robes of youth,

And, thanks to him, walk proudly in their green, bordered cloaks.

وجاء وغيم الدهر يرعد فانجلى

كما ينجلى رعد السحائب بالقطر

And he came while time's cloud thundered, and it cleared,

Just as the thunder of clouds subsides with rain.
