هَجَرتَyou deserted أُمامةَUmamah هَجراa desertion طَويلاlong
وَماand not كانَwas هَجرُكَyour desertion إِلّاexcept جَميلاgracious
You deserted Umamah for a long time.
You left Ummāmah behind for long
And your desertion was nothing but gracious,
And your abandonment was only beautiful
عَلىwith غَيرِno بُغضhatred وَلاnor عَنout of قِلىloathing
وَإِلّاand only حَياءَshyness وَإِلّاand only ذُهولاdistraction
Without hatred, nor out of loathing,
Not out of hatred or boredom
But only out of shyness, and only out of distraction.
But out of shyness and awe
بَخِلناwe were miserly لِبُخلِكbecause of your miserliness قَدindeed تَعلَمينَyou know
فَكَيفَso how يَلومُblames بَخيلٌa miser بَخيلاa miser
We were miserly because of your miserliness, as you well know;
You know we were stingy because of your stinginess
So how can a miser blame a miser?
So how can one stingy person blame another?
