You have not walked, nor do they travel toward you—

your first words... and no explanation.

You poured out your stride, hopeful, contemplative.

What of your stride whenever fragmentation occurs?

What of its tome, heaped into fragments,

and marking time... so all of it is alteration?

What if you do not grasp its halter—

the thread of place—as though it were an envoy to you?

You have not walked as an allusive curtain,

which they want crooked... while you turn:

And you turned a cup, its night with its day,

and lent it a sun... while you lend.

But it is a time... whose cheek turned away in pride,

and planning fell headlong from its excess.

Cast down the staff of language; do not slacken.

It will swallow when entrenched falsehood is a portent.

Otherwise, the staff turns to idle talk,

and its creeping is definiteness and indefiniteness.

And if a hand swoops down upon a teacher's shadow,

it shall be paralyzed, and pulverization shall engulf its clenched fist.

Indeed, the teacher is the country's shield.

So awaken as a hand... for in his lesson lies enlightenment.
