ولا تكنْ رحيمًا كلَّما سدَّدْتَ،

أَوْ أوقدتَ للجمر القديم ناره،

and do not be merciful whenever you aim,

or kindle the old embers' fire,

أوْ كلَّما أجهدتَ قوسَ الماء

حتَّى لا يرنَّ، للصَّدَى،

or whenever you strain the bow of water

so that, for the echo, there may not resound

شيءٌ إلى صداهُ

كنْ رحيمًا بي

anything toward its echo.

Be merciful to me
