بَلغْconvey صِباeast breeze سَلاماًa greeting مُسكيهmusky الرّوايحْthe fragrances
بَلغْ صِبا سَلاماً مُسكيه الرّوايحْ
لاdo not تَقطَعِcut off الرَسَائِلthe letters، لاdo not تَكتُمِconceal الصَرَايحْthe frank statements
لا تَقطَعِ الرَسَائِل، لا تَكتُمِ الصَرَايحْ
Convey, O east breeze, a greeting fragrant with musk.
Deliver my greetings, perfume-bearing breeze
Do not cut off the correspondence; do not conceal frank statements.
Do not withhold messages, do not conceal cries
قَدْmay تظهَرُappear المَعانِيthe meanings، بالخَطِthrough writing فيon اللَوايِحْthe tablets
قَدْ تظهَرُ المَعانِي، بالخَطِ في اللَوايِحْ
والعمرُand life كيفَhow مَاever كانَit may be مِثلُlike الريَاحِthe winds رايِحْpassing away
والعمرُ كيفَ مَا كانَ مِثلُ الريَاحِ رايِحْ
Meanings may appear through writing on the tablets.
Meanings may appear, in script on pages
And life, however it may be, passes like the winds.
However life may be, it passes like the winds
ياO عَارِفاًone who knows بِماof what صَارْhas happened، لاdo not تُكثِرِgive too much النَصايحْthe advice
يا عَارِفاً بِما صَارْ، لا تُكثِرِ النَصايحْ
O you who know what has happened, do not offer too much advice.
O wise one in what has occurred, spare advice
