وصارتand became لآليpearls عقودِnecklaces النظمverse منثوراscattered
وصارت لآلي عقودِ النظم منثورا
A sickly tongue grew weary under his handling;
It grew weary, its tongue ailing from his handling.
And the pearls in the necklaces of verse became scattered.
And the pearls of verse’s necklaces were scattered.
