He arrived and slew men after they had lived in ease

For an age, and brought men to life after they had perished.

You rose alongside the full moon at midmonth,

So the earths and the celestial sphere shone through you both.

And the sky grew bright until its beholder thought

That the gleam of radiance on its horizon was laughter.

    يكادُ من حَرِّه الماذِي ينسَبِكُ

    He leads every man harboring the rancor of one with a wrong to avenge;

From its heat, the gleaming mail almost melts.

Until, with the sword’s edge, he restored the dominion of the descendants of

al-Zahra, and the right they had left behind was reclaimed.

For had men like him been a support to them

In the past, Fadak would not have been usurped.
