ويُنجِدُهُ إن خانَه الدَّهرُ أوسطا

ويُنجِدُهُ إن خانَه الدَّهرُ أوسطا

أُناسٌ إِذا ما أنجدَ الدَّهرُ أَتهموا

أُناسٌ إِذا ما أنجدَ الدَّهرُ أَتهموا

And if time betrays or assails him, he is aided

by people who descend to Tihama when time ascends to Najd.

أجارُوا فما تحت الكواكبِ خائِفٌ

أجارُوا فما تحت الكواكبِ خائِفٌ

أجازُوا فما فوق البسيطةِ مُعدِمُ

أجازُوا فما فوق البسيطةِ مُعدِمُ

They granted refuge, so none beneath the stars is afraid.

They bestowed gifts, so none upon the earth is destitute.

لئن جهِلَ المُدَّاحُ طُرقَ مديحِكم

لئن جهِلَ المُدَّاحُ طُرقَ مديحِكم

فإنّى بها من سائر النَّاسِ أعلَمُ

فإنّى بها من سائر النَّاسِ أعلَمُ

If the panegyrists do not know the ways of praising you,

then I know them better than anyone else.

وإن كتمُوا ظُلماً أحاديثَ مجدِكم

وإن كتمُوا ظُلماً أحاديثَ مجدِكم

فإِنّىَ فى كتم الشَّهادةِ أظلَمُ

فإِنّىَ فى كتم الشَّهادةِ أظلَمُ

And if they unjustly conceal the accounts of your glory,

then I would be still more unjust to conceal testimony.

وهل لىَ حمدٌ فى الذى قُلتُ فيكمُ

وهل لىَ حمدٌ فى الذى قُلتُ فيكمُ

ونُعماكُمُ عندى التى تتكلَّمُ

ونُعماكُمُ عندى التى تتكلَّمُ

And is praise due to me for what I have said of you,

when it is your bounty toward me that speaks?
