أبداًforever تُريقُspill منfrom الجفونthe eyelids دَماblood
أبداً تُريقُ من الجفون دَما
And a slender one, whose eye’s swords
His unsheathed sword's blades
Forever spill blood from the eyelids.
Will never make blood run from eyelids
عيناهhis two eyes فىin قلبىmy heart تنازعتاboth contended
عيناه فى قلبى تنازعتا
فسوادُهُso its dark core قدindeed ظلَّremained بينهماbetween them both
فسوادُهُ قد ظلَّ بينهما
His two eyes contended within my heart,
His eyes in my heart competed
So its dark core has remained between them.
So their darkness remained between them
