    وفرحة الليل بالقمر

    And the night's joy in the moon,

    ويطلع الإحساس بحر

    In a moment, a poem bursts forth,

    And feeling rises as a sea.

  3. نور الشمس في مقلتيك

    نايم مع الريد في خدر

    The sunlight in your eyes

    Slumbers with love in languor.

  4. حتى النهار الصاحي بيك

    لا ضوى بعدك لا حضر

    Even the day, awakened by you,

    Neither shone nor appeared in your absence.

  5. والنيل سكب ليك دمعتين

    من تيهو دفق وانهمر

    And the Nile shed two tears for you;

    From its bewilderment, it gushed and poured.

  6. موج في الضلوع

    شلال دموع خاطرو انكسر

    A wave within the ribs,

    A waterfall of tears—its heart was broken.

  7. أجج طريق الشوق شموع

    فتح المدارات ليك ممر

    It kindled candles along the road of longing,

    Opened a passage through the orbits for you.

  8. وإحساس رهيف

    يلهب رحيق دنك مطر

    And a delicate feeling

    Sets the nectar of your wine jar aflame with rain,

  9. يترجى في الأيام تقيف

    ويخاف من اللحظات تمر

    Pleads with the days to stand still,

    And fears the moments passing.

  10. ما الوهلة في الحس الشفيف

    في غمضة تتمدد عمر

    For the instant in translucent feeling

    Stretches into a lifetime in a blink.

  11. مكتوب على الحاضر خريف

    ونزيف بفتش عن جزر

    Autumn is written upon the present,

    And bleeding searches for an ebb.

  12. يا همسة الوطن العفيف

    يا لمسة الوعد الأغر

    O whisper of the chaste homeland,

    O touch of the radiant promise.

  13. سفر الكلام الفي العيون

    حاضن في أنفاسو الزهر

    The journey of the words within the eyes

    Cradles blossoms in its breaths,

  14. يتهادى في ليل الشجون

    شايل صبابات السهر

    Glides through the night of sorrows,

    Carrying the ardent longings of sleeplessness.

  15. خصلات نضارك ما بتغيب

    وربيع حريرك بان ظهر

    Your golden tresses never disappear,

    And the springtime of your silk has emerged, come into view.

  16. كل الزمان بيك بستريح

    والدنيا إحساس مزدهر

    All time finds rest in you,

    And the world is a flourishing feeling.

  17. أحزاني جنبك صوتها راح

    والحلم في وجودك عبر

    My sorrows lost their voice beside you,

    And the dream, in your presence, crossed over

  18. لي لحظة ما بتعرف نواح

    لى نجمة في وقت السحر

    To a moment that knows no lamentation,

    To a star in the hour before dawn.

  19. كان ملتقانا الفي الخيال

    لمحة حقيقة وكان قدر

    Our meeting in imagination was

    A glimpse of truth, and it was fate.

  20. وكان الهوى الزاهي وحنين

    رحلة أمان لي كل بر

    And radiant love and longing were

    A journey of safety to every shore.

  21. ليك يا حبيب وهج السنين

    عشق المسافات والسفر

    For you, beloved, the glow of the years,

    The ardent love of distances and travel.

  22. أشواقها من حسنك تبين

    وأحلامها في صحوك خطر..

    Their longings emerge from your beauty,

    And their dreams are peril in your wakefulness.
