You are the one for whose kindness lifeless things yearned,
You who the inanimate softened toward in affection
And the animal complained to you the day it saw you.
And the animals complained to when they saw you

I have not written poems about you, out of reverent awe;
I did not write poems about you in reverence
My letters bow their heads before your loftiness.
Lest my words lower their heads before your eminence

I hold my soul cheap beside your honor
A soul departs, but your sanctuary remains untouched.
A soul that goes while your protection remains untouched

To you O Messenger of God, go the beats of my poems
If poetry had a heart, it would offer itself as your ransom.
If a poem had a heart, it would sacrifice itself for you
