لوif أنهاthat she علمتْshe knew بمنزلهاof her standing لماthen she would not
لو أنها علمتْ بمنزلها لما
ظلّتْshe remained تغارُis jealous بلهفةٍwith yearning وحنينِand longing
ظلّتْ تغارُ بلهفةٍ وحنينِ
If she knew the place she holds, she would not
If she knew her worth, she wouldn't
Remain jealous, with yearning and longing.
Keep pining with yearning and sorrow
ياO أجملmost beautiful الدنياthe world : إذاwhen كناwe are معاًtogether
يا أجمل الدنيا : إذا كنا معاً
فالكونُthen the universe كلّall الكونِthe universe لاnot يعنينيconcerns me !
فالكونُ كلّ الكونِ لا يعنيني !
O fairest in the world, when we are together,
O fairest in all the earth: when we're together
Then the universe—the whole universe—does not concern me!
The whole universe matters not to me!
وملأتِand you filled عينيmy eye ! بالكمالwith perfection ملأْتِهاyou filled it
وملأتِ عيني ! بالكمال ملأْتِها
لاno حسنَbeauty بعدكafter you بالهوىwith love يشجينيstirs me deeply
لا حسنَ بعدك بالهوى يشجيني
And you filled my eye—with perfection you filled it.
You've filled my eyes with perfection, filled them
No beauty after you stirs me with love.
No beauty but yours can move me to love
تكفينَyou suffice عنin place of كلall الوجودexistence ، وإنand if تغبْbe absent
تكفينَ عن كل الوجود ، وإن تغبْ
عيناكyour two eyes ماnot شيءٌa thing بهin it يكفينيsuffices for me !
عيناك ما شيءٌ به يكفيني !
You suffice in place of all existence, and if
You're enough for all existence, and if
Your eyes are absent, nothing in it suffices for me!
Your eyes are absent, nothing suffices for me!
