أرادواthey wanted بالشذوذِthrough deviance شعارan emblem خزيٍof disgrace
أرادوا بالشذوذِ شعار خزيٍ
وقالواand they said سوفshall نرفعهwe raise it علامةas a sign
وقالوا سوف نرفعه علامة
They sought, through deviance, an emblem of disgrace,
They wished aberrance to be a banner of disgrace
And said, “We shall raise it as a sign.”
And said they would raise it as a sign
وشاءand willed اللهGod فانهزمواso they were defeated ليغدوso that it might become
وشاء الله فانهزموا ليغدو
شعارthe emblem جدودناof our forefathers بالطهرِwith purity شامةa beauty mark
شعار جدودنا بالطهرِ شامة
And God willed it; they were defeated, so that
But God willed it, so they were defeated
Our forefathers’ emblem might become a beauty mark of purity.
And the banner of our ancestors with purity became an epithet
دعواleave ألوانthe colors هذاthis الخزيِdisgrace عنكمaway from you
دعوا ألوان هذا الخزيِ عنكم
فهذاfor this (البشتthe bisht (cloak)) عنوانthe symbol الكرامةof dignity
فهذا (البشت) عنوان الكرامة
Leave the colors of this disgrace behind,
Leave behind these colors of disgrace
For this bisht is the symbol of dignity.
For this modesty is the title of dignity
