And turn away from husks, even if they appear

Turn away from façades though they seem

thin in the mist and in the clouds.

Delicate veils in mist and cloud's steam

فقد فاض الطلاء على حياة

فقد فاض الطلاء على حياة

 تفيض بها الكئوس بلا شراب

For varnish has flooded over a life

For veneer has spilled on a life

in which cups overflow without drink.

Where cups o'erflow with no wine or cream

يضوع عبيرها من غير عطر

 وتزخر كالبحور بلا عباب

Its fragrance wafts without perfume,

Its fragrance withers sans any scent

and it surges like the seas without swelling waves.

And teems like seas sans any stream

وتزهو بالرياض بلا زهور

وتزهو بالرياض بلا زهور

 وتزهو بالثمار بلا لباب

وتزهو بالثمار بلا لباب

And it glories in gardens without flowers,

It boasts of gardens sans any flowers

and it glories in fruit without pulp.

And boasts of fruits that no lips have deemed
