I beheld the light of God—exalted is His majesty.
The light of Allah, exalted is His majesty, brings me joy
And walked where the Prophet and his family walked.
And I walked where the Prophet and his family walked

And attained the best a Muslim ever wished for,
And attained the best of what a Muslim could wish for
And the most precious thing to which his imagination aspires.
And the most precious that his imagination aspires to

I have been enabled to enjoy my fortune, so its coming or going does not preoccupy me
Its turning away from me or its drawing near.

He thought the horizons of the Hejaz too narrow for
For his sins, under which mountains would collapse
His sins, and its mountains weighed down by them.
This penitent pleading for Your pardon, O Forgiving One

This penitent, turning to One who pardons and forgives—
What state is he in that reflects his condition
What ails him, so terrified by his own condition?
The threat of punishment made his hopes tremble

He remembered the warning, and his hopes were shaken
Fear of punishment shook his limbs
By fear of the warning, and his limbs convulsed.

Until, when the Sacred House embraced him,
His nightingales were reassured and his mind set right
His anxieties grew still, and his mind was set at ease.

O Lord, You have fulfilled my hope; and whoever
Whom Your House shelters will not despair
Your House has sheltered has never seen his hopes fail.

You sent tranquility down into the anguished heart;
Now it has no more turmoil or tremors
Neither its terror nor its trembling remains.

O You who love the repentant, You have been called upon by one
Who makes repentance sincere - will You answer his prayer?
Sincere in repentance—will his plea be answered?
The Muslims and their religion are in distress
المسلمونthe Muslims ودينهمand their faith فيin محنةan ordeal

Muslims and their faith are in tribulation;
Their state and condition have not escaped You
Their plight and its plight are not hidden from You.
And I see them split apart as if they were

And I see them scattered, as though they were
A single body whose limbs have been torn
A sound body whose limbs have been torn apart.
And I see that they have enabled their enemy

And I see that they have empowered their enemy,
To enslave them in shackles and bonds
So his shackles have seized their necks.
The enemy attacks them arrogant and cruel
صالcharged العدوthe enemy عليهموupon them متجبراtyrannically

The enemy assailed them tyrannically,
Increasing his tyranny and punishment over them
And his violence and punishment against them intensified.
And I suspect some may betray their tribe
وأخالand I think منهمamong them منone who يخونbetrays قبيلهhis tribe
ومنand from الخيانةbetrayal جاههhis standing أوor مالهhis wealth
And I think among them is one who betrays his tribe,
Seduced by power or money gained through treachery
And whose rank or wealth comes from betrayal.
And I suspect some foolish ones deceived
وأخالand I think منamong فساقهمtheir sinners منone whom غرهhas deluded him
إمهالthe granting of respite ربthe Lord of العرشthe Throne لاnot إهمالهHis neglect
And I think among their sinners is one deluded by
By Allah's postponing, not neglecting, punishment
The Lord of the Throne's reprieve—not His neglect.
And I suspect some only repent out of need
وأخالand I think منهمamong them منone who يتوبrepents لعلةfor some reason
فإذاthen when انقضتit passes غلبovercomes المتابrepentance ضلالهhis straying
And I think among them is one who repents for some cause;
If it passes, their straying defeats repentance
Then, once it passes, his straying overcomes his repentance.

The tragedies of our days and afflictions away from us
From us the tragedies of our day and its dire consequences.

O You whose dazzling light illuminates the soul,
And reveals the beauty of beauty with Your beauty
And whose beauty ushers in the colors of beauty.
